目的:

Jan Embree-Bever worked in both direct and indirect service capacities in the juvenile justice system as well as the alcohol and drug treatment system. Jan wishes to assist students who are pursuing a career working with this special population.

Preference for the recipient to be a non-traditional, single parent.

This scholarship honors the memory of Dr. 查尔斯分支. Dr. Branch started his professional life as a jazz musician and high school band teacher in Kansas in 1952. He came to 密歇根州立大学丹佛 in 1978 as Dean of the 教育学院. Over the years he held several other leadership positions, including Chair of the Human Services Department, Coordinator of the Center for High-Risk Youth Studies, and Dean of the School of Professional Studies. He was a tenured professor of both teacher education and human services. Dr. Branch’s area of expertise was applied behavior analysis; he believed in empowering students on their journey to academic success and real-world achievements.

• Have declared a Human Services major (at least 12 semester hours each semester)

• Submit an essay that describes how they have made a positive change in their life and why they deserve this scholarship. Students must address how they meet the requirements and criteria for the scholarship. The essay should be approximately 500 words.

These funds are established to provide financial assistance to a student pursuing a Human Services degree with an emphasis in Addiction Studies.

• Meet the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, 状态, 或者机构援助
• Have financial need as determined by FAFSA / DAIA and the University’s Office 金融援助 and 奖学金
• Be a Human Services major with an emphasis in Addiction Studies

  • Preference is for students entering their junior or senior year.
  • Applicants with a history of chemical addiction must be alcohol/drug free for a minimum of two years.

Complete an essay in 500 words or less describing their desire to be an addiction professional, 他们的助人哲学, and a description of two long term professional goals.

These funds are established to support an interdisciplinary cohort that fosters community while aiding students as they explore career pathways that seeks to address community behavioral health needs.

标准:

In addition to fulfilling their program’s requirements for field work, scholars attend monthly cohort meetings to discuss topics impacting the behavioral health field. Scholars must spend 5-10 hours a month on cohort activities.

密歇根州立大学丹佛 is committed to meeting the financial needs of students who are addressing the behavioral health needs of the community.

• Complete an unpaid internship in a behavioral health setting providing direct care to clients (outreach, 病例管理, 咨询, 集团便利, 转介服务, 等.)
• Pursue a degree in Human Services (bachelors or masters), 综合医疗保健, 心理学, 人类发展与家庭研究, 社会工作(本科或硕士).
• Student is not a current recipient of another source of funding (Earn & Learn, Child Welfare stipend, HRSA, CoAccess, BHPPP, HICOP, DUHOP, 等.)
• Student is not a previous recipient of the Anschutz Services-Response Stipend or BHPPP.
